Vetnews | Mei 2025 18 « BACK TO CONTENTS outside the laboratory, this review highlights a significant gap in understanding the potential consequences of the adsorption properties of microplastics. Specifically, there is a need to investigate how microplastics may interact with other environmental contaminants, such as pesticides, heavy metals, and antibiotics, which often coexist in the environment. Thus, this review can serve as a foundational reference for future research on microplastics and bees, since many studies presented here and discussed offer valuable suggestions that can build upon existing knowledge, helping to close the gaps that remain in this area of study. v References Al Naggar Y, Brinkmann M, Sayes CM, Al-kahtani SN, Dar SA, El-seedi HR, Grünewald B, Giesy JP (2021) Are honeybees at risk from microplastics?
