Vetnuus | Januarie 2024 26 « BACK TO CONTENTS South African Veterinary Foundation Bursary Fund The South African Veterinary Foundation (SAVF) held its annual bursary awards ceremony at the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Onderstepoort Campus on the 05th of October 2023. The event’s objective was to award 4 students with bursaries to the value of R12 000.00 per student in their 4th and 5th year Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) programme. The criteria for selection of bursary holders are as follows: • Students should participate in campus and community activities (sports and leadership roles) • Students should have good academic achievements. • Students should apply for financial support through our website. • The candidates are also required to do a short quiz about the SAVF. The purpose of the bursary fund is to contribute towards the student’s tuition fees so that they can complete their studies successfully, reducing financial stress with a view that they will participate in the greater good of the veterinary profession at a later stage in their career. This year, the bursaries were awarded to Ms. Cecilia van Der Walt and Ms. Laurie Aucamp in their fifth year BVSc programme and in the fourth year BVSc programme Ms. Kaela Els and Ms. Rachel Swanepoel.
