He delighted in tracing obscure publications, and no request was ignored. His sustained, highly productive contribution to veterinary science makes David Swanepoel a worthy recipient of a posthumous conferral of this honour. Unfortunately, there was nobody available to receive Mr Swanepoel's award. v SAVA Commendation Dr Annelise Barker For nearly 40 years, Dr Annelise Barker has demonstrated a consistent dedication to her patients and especially those that indigent people own. Her compassion is unswerving, and her service is rendered pro bono despite the huge financial cost to her and is often continued when needed long after normal working hours. She has served as an example and a source of inspiration and pride to the veterinary profession. Annelise is very supportive of local animal welfare organisations and is highly regarded by them for her sustained support and frequent clinics and sterilisation campaigns. She is also a valued contributor to the activities in her church. SAVA Federal Council has decided that a special SAVA Commendation be made to Dr Annelise Barker to recognise her sustained and consistent selfless services to indigent animal owners. v 2022 SAVA AWARDS
