Vetnews | Januarie 2025 38 « BACK TO CONTENTS A 6-month-old, male, castrated Maltese was presented to the clinic with a primary complaint of unerupted teeth. The owner reported no prior significant medical history. On conscious oral examination, thickened gingiva was noted on the caudal maxilla and mandible, with no evidence of erupted permanent teeth in those areas. No abnormalities were detected on general physical examination; however, the owner reported that the dog exhibited heightened sensitivity to facial handling, often crying during grooming or when his face was touched. During anaesthesia, a comprehensive oral examination was conducted, followed by dental charting. Dental radiographs of the entire oral cavity were obtained to assess the position and status of the unerupted permanent teeth.
