Vetnews | January 2023 27 Middle East and African Veterinary Congress: 25 to 27 November 2022: DubaiWorldTrade Centre The SAVA entered into a scientific partnership agreement with the Middle East and African Veterinary Congress (MEAVC). The MEAVC is an organisation that aims to: • Provide cutting-edge education to veterinarians and practical skills with accredited certification; • Be an open platform of networking between veterinary practitioners, Universities, Veterinary Associations and Veterinary students on an international level, broadening the global veterinary scope; • Strengthen the economic foundation and branding strategy of all commercial exhibitors and partners in the Middle East & Africa region; • Create a memorable experience and advertise the UAE local culture and attractions; to enhance the level of veterinary services in the Middle East and Africa. I had the privilege to attend the first edition of the MEAVC 2022 held at the DubaiWorldTrade Centre.They hosted over 721 veterinarians, 55 students and 86 nurses from 41 countries worldwide. Forty-two internationally world-renowned speakers, including our own Prof Emma Hooijberg, presented over a hundred topics on various disciplines in internal medicine, surgery and practice management. There were also three pre-congress “hands-on” workshops on gastroenterology. The agenda for the 2023 edition to be hosted from 17 to 19 November 2023 in Dubai is: • Cardiology • Interventional Cardiology • Cardiorespiratory Infectious Diseases • Pulmonary and Cardiovascular Imaging • Dentistry • Urology • Interventional Radiology of the Urinary Tract • Interventional Endourology • Anaesthesia and Analgesia • Thoracic Surgery • Thoracoscopic Techniques • Orthopaedics – Elbows and Thoracic Spine • Animal Behaviour • Exoitic Animal Medicine • Equine Medicine • Nurses Stream As a scientific partner of MEAVC, it is envisaged that all accepted speakers will receive: • $350.00/30 minute presentation or $500.00/45 minute presentation. • Travel, accommodation and full conference registration costs. • Free entrance to all social events.
