Vetnuus | Februarie 2023 2 However sad as it may be, we are confronted daily with apathy in our profession. Apathy can be defined as a lack of interest in life activities or interactions with others. It can affect your ability to keep a job, maintain relationships, and enjoy life (Healthline.com). Apathy is a feeling of "what is the point?" It's numbness. It's a protection mechanism from overstimulation and a side effect of having your hopes crushed. It's a feeling of joylessness and feeling stuck. Stepping out of it is not easy and may require help. What you can do is detach from that which angers you and has no actual outcome. You can do the things that normally bring you joy, even if they don't seem at first. You can rest and reset. You can reclaim your peace by realising you are being blessed beyond measure, grateful for all you have and what you will accomplish, and taking advantage of all the great opportunities presented. Do not give up on goals and dreams, and accomplish anything you set your sights on, be dependable and resourceful, be positive, attract positive situations for success, choose prosperity over failure, and work harder to achieve success. On discussing his position, he remarked that he became a state veterinarian to have a peaceful life away from the pressures of being actively involved in veterinary matters. Imagine if we all had that life philosophy.
