VN April 2023

Vetnews | April 2023 45 Come and live on the beautiful East coast of Australia in a small town that is halfway between Sydney and Brisbane in a climate described as the “most liveable in Australia”. Sandy white beaches, rain forests just inland and a beautiful river in the middle of a town allows for an awesome lifestyle. Port Macquarie Vet Hospital is a 6-vet practice that opened 50 years ago and continues to grow. Our fully equipped hospital has all the best toys allowing you to practice medicine to the highest level and operate in our 3-table surgery which includes a full equipped orthopaedic theatre. We are looking for another full-time vet with several years of experience to join our team and become part of our family with partnership options later. One of our partners is a 1995 Onderstepoort graduate so can offer advice on emigration and another partner has a membership in surgery so can build up your surgical skill set if that is an area of interest. Our clinical work is 98% companion animal with a 2% equine component. We share the on-call duties with the 3 other clinics in town so the after-hours duty roster of 1 in 4 and a full weekend every 16 weeks is very manageable. A 4-day working week also allows for time to enjoy the local area with fishing, surfing, mountain biking and beach walks only 5 minutes from work. Depending on experience levels, our package would be between $80-130 000 annually with 4 weeks leave per annum and an extra week + $1000 for CPD. We would be prepared to sponsor a visa but applicants that are document ready for visas would be preferred.
