Vetnuus | May 2022 4 One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy hurriedly picking up and gently throwing things into the ocean. Approaching the boy, theman asked: “Youngman, what are you doing?” The boy replied: “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up, and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.” The man laughed to himself and said, “Don’t you realise there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish. You cannot make a difference.” After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it into the surf. Then, smiling, he said to the man, “I made a difference to that one.” Op die strand van renoster stopery kan mens maklik oorweldig raak met die omvang daarvan. Met soveel fasette van die renoster bedryf is daar baie terreine met potensiaal om die oorlewing van renosters te bevorder. The main article in this month’s edition is on fine-tuning rhino anaesthesia. I want to thank the contributors from around the globe for all the input. Another shout-out to all the contributors.
