The threat is real, to all of us, including those working in the perceived safety of a suburban practice. How can we as vets have public so ill informed about rabies? How can we as vets have children die due to a dog scratch in this day and age? How can we as vets stand back and not take some responsibility? Yes, owners need to take responsibility, but does some of it, at least educating and informing, not lie with us as professionals? Let us all do our share, let us pick up our weapons of vaccination and education. Let us blanket vaccinate our country's dogs and cats and not just stop this current crisis, but eliminate rabies altogether. Put on your capes, lets vaccinate! v
