Port Macquarie has a population of around 50 000 people, is 4 hours’ drive north of Sydney and has everything you need to raise a family in a 10-minute town. Port Macquarie Veterinary Hospital is a 5-vet hospital that opened 50 years ago and continues to grow. We are part of a close-knit community that allows us to build long term relationships with our clients and service their pet’s needs to the highest level. Our fully equipped hospital has all the best equipmentincludingdigitalDRxrays,dentalxrays,MindrayM8 Ultrasound, IM3 dental machine, fully equipped orthopaedic surgery, Tonovet, Idexx inhouse lab, reproductive lab with semen freezing and storage facilities, etc. We are looking for another full-time vet with several years of experience to join our team and become part of our family. Long term we would love to offer partnership options to enable the successful applicant to build for their future. One of our partners is a 1995 Onderstepoort graduate and emigratedwith his family 9 years ago so can offer advice on the whole process of moving and settling intoanewcountry. Another partner has amembership in surgery so canbuildupyour surgical skill set if that is anarea of special interest. Our clinical work is 98% companion animal with a 2%equine component.We share the on-call duties with 2 other clinics in town so the after-hours duty roster of 1 in 4 is very manageable. Our daily workload is a balance between consulting, surgical cases and patient work ups with each vet having a delegated day in surgery to provide a good work balance. A4-dayworkingweekalsoallows for time toenjoy the local area with fishing, surfing, mountain biking, beach walks, whale watching and coastal coffee shops amongst the many things to do. Our town also hosts the Australian Ironman if you are feeling energetic. Depending on experience levels, our package would be between $80-130 000 annually with 4 weeks leave per annum and an extra week + $1000 for conferences from the 2nd year onwards. We also pay your annual AVA membership fees and would be prepared to sponsor a visa if needed and guide you through the process of emigration.
