Regular visitors to clinics have not been attending and upon enquiry, it became clear that the responsible pet owners could not afford the minimal CVC fees. CVCs were obviously concerned about the effect of ceasing endo- and ectoparasite treatments, as well as less sterilisations being performed. Visits to the clinics, also ensure that disease is detected earlier and create an ideal opportunity to provide education to owners. Royal Canin kindly stepped up to help out during this difficult economic time in South Africa and made available a fund to provide: • 5000 treatments for ticks, fleas, and worms: and • 500 subsidised sterilisations; and • 340 face masks and 170 face shields for the clinic workers. Each one of the 27 CVCs countrywide that took part in the project, received: • 5 bottles of Fiprotec; and • 1 bottle of Endovet 100 tablets; and • 3 face shields and could claim for the purchase of face masks of their own choice.
